La línea de investigación, en el campo de la Geología y Paleopalinología, consiste en estudios estratigráficos, bioestratigráficos, paleobiogeográficos y paleoambientales. Se ha desarrollado hasta el momento una bioestratigrafía de alta resolución para el Ordovícico y Silúrico del noroeste argentino. Los estudios se extienden a otras cuencas paleozoicas argentinas y del mundo, incluyendo el Devónico. La utilidad de los quitinozoos como herramienta bioestratigráfica y paleoambiental, aunque impu... La línea de investigación, en el campo de la Geología y Paleopalinología, consiste en estudios estratigráficos, bioestratigráficos, paleobiogeográficos y paleoambientales. Se ha desarrollado hasta el momento una bioestratigrafía de alta resolución para el Ordovícico y Silúrico del noroeste argentino. Los estudios se extienden a otras cuencas paleozoicas argentinas y del mundo, incluyendo el Devónico. La utilidad de los quitinozoos como herramienta bioestratigráfica y paleoambiental, aunque impulsada por la industria hidrocarburífera, se extiende a variadas disciplinas geológicas. La técnica implica trabajos geológicos de campo, análisis estratigráficos y muestreo palinológico de alta densidad. En laboratorio palinológico se extrae la materia orgánica, se selecciona bajo microscopio binocular (picking) y prepara para su observación al microscopio electrónico de barrido y microscopio óptico. En el Comahue, en la enseñanza de grado y posgrado y actividades multidisciplinarias, se realizan estudios geológicos regionales en unidades estratigráficas paleozoicas, mesozoicas y cenozoicas.
