La investigadora posee formación sólida en parasitología médica, y especialmente en enfermedades causadas por parásitos protozoarios. Las líneas de investigación desarrolldas durante su carrera científica estuvieron siempre relacionadas con los mecanismos patógenicos de T. cruzi, agente etiológico de la enfermedad de Chagas. Ha desarrollado trabajos donde se analizan los mecanismos inmunes del huesped involucrados en patogenia, expresión diferencial de genes en el parásito T. cruzi y su insecto vector (Triatoma infestans), caracterización molecular de nuevos genes en T. cruzi, identificación de nuevos antígenos vacunales y diagnósticos, entre otros. Tiene amplio dominio de técnicas de biología y genética molecular, biología celular, inmunología, cultivo celular, secuenciación de ADN (y análisis derivados), bioinformática, manejo de animales de laboratorio, modelos de infección con T. cruzi, etc. Posee antecedentes docentes y sólida formación en Parasitología Médica y Genética Humana. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
