En las líneas de investigación del IIM de la FI de la UNSJ, dentro de las cuales trabajo se investiga sobre distintos fenómenos ligados al procesamiento de minerales. En las líneas de investigación del IIM de la FI de la UNSJ, dentro de las cuales trabajo se investiga sobre distintos fenómenos ligados al procesamiento de minerales. En la línea Pirometalurgia se trabaja analizando el comportamiento de minerales sulfurados en procesos a altas temperaturas. Se han estudiado diferentes procesos en donde se obtuvo la mayor recuperación del metal deseado (oro, plata, cobre, renio, molibdeno), reduciendo los costos energéticos y disminuyendo el impacto ambiente para lo cual se han desarrollado distintas técnicas de mitigación. Con este enfoque se han encontrados combinación de tecnologías en donde se ha podido demostrar que con nuestras materias primas se puede llegar a competir con el mercado global. La identificación de parámetros operativos se han realizado por diferentes medios como lo son proceso piro metalúrgicos de tostación, reducción carbotermica, fusión, microondas entre otros así también su evaluación a través de análisis mineralógicos como DRX, microscopia electrónica y óptica , termo gravimétrica, análisis químicos típicos e instrumentales.
