Mi área de experticia abarca el estudio a nivel molecular, funcional y epidemiológico de plataformas genéticas asociadas a la Transferencia Horizontal Genética, así como el estudio de nuevos sitios de recombinación y el análisis del potencial de diseminación de estas plataformas y sus componentes en la población bacteriana y su relevancia concomitante a nivel de salud pública. Estos elementos contribuyen al problema creciente de la aparición de organismos pandroga resistentes capaces de escapar de los efectos de los antibióticos, por lo cual se encuentran asociados a una alta morbilidad y mortalidad de los pacientes infectados. Mi trabajo incluye el estudio del sistema integrón/cassettes, que constituye el mecanismo de resistencia a antibióticos más disperso y de mayor importancia clínica en las bacterias gram-negativas. Domino técnicas de microbiología y genética clásicas, de biología molecular utilizando ADN o ARN, como diferentes variantes de PCR, PCR en tiempo real, hibridación, clonación y secuenciación; también manejo herramientas de bioinformática y técnicas de bioseguridad. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
