My research group is dedicated to analyze the mechanisms that govern bacterial virulence. Salmonella enterica and Serratia marcescens are the bacterial organisms that we examine as working models to elucidate the bacterial-host interactions. Our aim is to characterize the regulatory networks that control bacterial gene expression and the mechanisms of action of the virulence factors that determine the infective process. In addition, and in view of the health-threatening emerging incidence of multiple antibiotic-resistant strains, we search for anti-virulence compounds that act on alternative bacterial targets, and are promising as therapeutic novel approaches to treat infections. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVALines of Investigation
