Hace quince años que trabajo en los procesos evolutivos que han generado la diversidad de especies que observamos hoy en dia en America del Sur. Mayormente he trabajado con peces de agua dulce como modelo de estudio aunque tambien he colaborado en trabajos con mamiferos. La herramienta mas importante que suelo utilizar para abordar esta tematica ha sido en base a datos moleculares, con los cuales ha llevado a cabo estudios filogeograficos, filogeneticos y biogeograficos.
