El tema principal de mi investigación, el estudio de los patrones acústicos del habla en la enfermedad de Parkinson, se incluye dentro de los dominios de la fonética y fonología, lingüística teórica, la psicolingüística y la neurolingüística. Así, el desarrollo de mi actividad profesional requiere del conocimiento de las discusiones a nivel teórico sobre fonología y procesamiento del lenguaje, así como también sobre procesamiento de señales acústicas. A su vez, investigo en otras áreas relacionadas: estudio del foco, prosodia e interfaz sintaxis-prosodia, en las cuales se necesita el conocimiento de técnicas de grabación de sonido, de segmentado y etiquetado de unidades lingüísticas (fonemas, acentos tonales, sistema de notación Sp-ToBI), y el manejo de programas de análisis de audio (PRAAT y Anagraf).
