Mi especialidad es la bioquímica y biología celular en el contexto de la salud humana y en presencia de infecciones causadas por patógenos, principalmente de transmisión sexual. Estudio la interacción entre microorganismos patógenos intracelulares y la célula infectada desde el punto de vista molecular, celular, microbiológico, inmunológico y farmacológico, con proyección biotecnológica y hacia la medicina clínica. En particular, la fagocitosis y las estrategias desarrolladas por los microorganismos patógenos intracelulares para evadir la degradación y sobrevivir y multiplicarse dentro de las células infectadas. Utilizo técnicas de biología molecular, bioquímica, biología celular, microscopía, citometría de flujo, ADN recombinante, manipulación genética, etc. Estamos desarrollando proyectos biotecnológicos para la generación de vacunas y de nanoanticuerpos recombinantes.
