Posee antecedentes en síntesis y caracterización de polímeros termorrígidos (resinas fenólicas, furánicas y epoxi), materiales compuestos con fibras de vidrio y naturales, nanocompuestos, recubrimientos sobre metales, degradación térmica y al fuego. Por otro lado, en el desarrollo de películas a partir de polímeros biodegradables (PHB, PLA, almidón) y sus nanocompuestos. Ha utilizado diversas técnicas como: FTIR, DSC, DRX, GPC, ensayos mecánicos, DMA, nanoindentación, TGA, calorímetro de cono, SEM y TEM. Se están desarrollando polímeros termorrígidos y nanocompuestos derivados de recursos renovables, como el furfural, para su aplicación como recubrimientos con alta resistencia al desgaste y a la temperatura; y como matriz de materiales compuestos con alta resistencia térmica y al fuego. Así mismo, se están estudiando mezclas de polímeros biodegradables y sus nanocompuestos, con potencial aplicación como envases y/o embalaje; y materiales bicapa totalmente biodegradables compuestos por papel de celulosa y un polímero biodegradable cargado con nanopartículas. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
