Su área de investigación es el mejoramiento genético vegetal y fisiología vegetal. Estudio de los mecanismos de tolerancia al estrés salino, hidrico, anegamiénto en plantas superiores. Mejoramiento genético de gramíneas forrajeras megatérmicas. Sus trabajos se orientan a la generación de nuevo germoplasma en especies forrajeras con características de tolerancia a estrés abiótico y en particular salinidad y sequía. Desarrollo de herramientas para el fenotipado de estas forrajeras para condiciones de estrés abiótico.
