Sistemas informáticos inteligentes y herramientas de soporte de decisión para aumentar la eficiencia de empresas productivas y cadenas de suministros, abordando problemas de planificación de la producción, scheduling predictivo y reactivo de plantas batch y continuas, así como uso eficiente de recursos críticos. Para alcanzar este fin se emplean diferentes metodologías: modelos de programación matemática, programación con restricciones, así como técnicas basadas en el conocimiento. Desarrollo de metodologías, arquitecturas y ontologías para alcanzar/mejorar la integración informática de las organizaciones industriales, apuntando a romper las actuales islas de automatización que existen en ellas, así como las barreras de integración informática entre las empresas que participan en cadenas de suministros extendidas.
