La contaminación hídrica es una problemática ambiental crítica y lamentablemente muy extendida, que afecta directamente a la flora y fauna de los ambientes acuáticos, además de comprometer la provisión de numerosos servicios ambientales que éstos brindan. Mi trabajo consiste en el desarrollo y aplicación de tecnologías ambientales orientadas a evitar la contaminación hídrica superficial y revertir el daño ambiental que ésta genera. Dichas tecnologías incluyen sistemas naturales de tratamiento de aguas residuales, fitorremediación de aguas, suelos y sedimentos contaminados y rehabilitación ambiental. Se destaca el diseño, construcción y evaluación de sistemas de humedales para el tratamiento de aguas grises y efluentes agroindustriales a escala de laboratorio y el desarrollo de un prototipo de islas flotantes vegetadas para la fitorremediación in situ mediante especies palustres. Por otra parte, poseo experiencia en la rehabilitación de riberas en la cuenca del río Matanza-Riachuelo y como especialista en calidad de aguas en la cuenca del río Reconquista (AMBA).
