I am an aquatic biologist with experience in a wide range of environments, like shallow Pampean lakes, floodplain lakes, tropical lakes, deep oligotrophic lakes, Antarctic lakes and marine ecosystems. My main research interest involve the interactions within the aquatic microbial food webs. In particular, my research is focused on the study of predator-prey interactions: the grazing impact of mixotrophic algae on bacteria and picocyanobacteria, the prey selection by phagotrophic protists and the effect of these grazers on prey composition. I also work on diversity of microorganisms. This is mainly approached by microcosm experiments and by the combined use of microscopy, image analysis, flow cytometry, cell-sorting and fluorescent probes and molecular biology, including next generation sequencing techniques (e.g. Illumina). *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
