Mi área de especialidad son las sociedades agropastoriles prehispánicas andinas, en especial en el ámbito de la Puna de Atacama. Entre los temas que he abordado se encuentran la importancia del recurso Camelidae (silvestre y domesticado) en las sociedades pastoriles,estudios sobre la evolución paleoambiental en la Puna a lo largo del Holoceno en relación con la economía y dieta humanas. Me he especializado en zooarqueología de camélidos y tafonomía en desiertos de altura, pero también he trabajado en análisis de cerámicas arqueológicas, geoarqueología y agricultura prehispánica.
