La creciente demanda de producción en economías emergentes, junto con la inadecuada gestión de las aguas residuales y la subsecuente contaminación por metales y otros contaminantes en cuerpos de aguas, un problema ambiental presente en algunas regiones de nuestro país, supone un riesgo tanto para la salud humana, a través del consumo de agua y/o el contacto con estos contaminantes, como para el ecosistema acuático, debido a su transferencia y acumulación en los diferentes compartimentos bióticos y abióticos. El desarrollo de técnicas adecuadas de remediación con una perspectiva ecológicas y de bajo costo, como por ej. el uso de macrófitas nativas en humedales de tratamientos, representa una contribución significativa a fin de disminuir los niveles de metales en aguas residuales y también de agua y sedimentos de cuerpos receptores y/o sumideros. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
